With the need for greater amounts of elevation often required in Extreme Long Range (ELR) rifle shooting, and a lack of robust bases on the market, we decided it was time to make our ELEVATION ADJUSTABLE SCOPE BASE (EASB). And by keeping our design simple, we’ve eliminated any potential issues from excessive movement or clearance.
In the machining industry, this design system is referred to as a “Sign Bar”. It’s used to set specific angles, by using the trigonometry of the desired angle and fixture at that angle, so that once set, it cannot move.
Our EASB applies this principle ‘exactly’. It has a pivot pin in the front that has just enough clearance so that it can be moved by hand. It can be set to any of the pre-defined angles with a cross pin, that has the same tolerances as the pivot pin.
These angles are represented in MOA on one side (up to 120 MOA), and MIL (up to 35.56 MIL) on the other. Finally, there are lock screws to the rear of the adjustment, but they are more for show, as they are only meant as a backup in the event the locator pin is pushed out. One more feature we added; a cable attachment that secures the pin to the rail, so it isn’t lost or left at behind in the field or on your bench.
The key to the function of this base is the correct geometry of the receiver that it is being mounted to. So, it’s paramount that the receiver at hand be dimensionally correct, or the EASB will bind and be unable to pivot properly.
For that reason, we are discrete about which actions we can or will install them on. And, some may require slight modification to install properly. Going forward, we are expanding to new models as time allows and demand increases.
The ELEVATION ADJUSTABLE SCOPE BASE has Picatinny slot spacing. 8″ long to accommodate the largest of scopes. 24 minutes of angle built in to put you in the middle of your scopes elevation adjustment at longer ranges. Zero taper available as well. Not available for all receivers, so contact us before your buy. Please specify your receiver when contacting us.
Currently, we install these on the following actions:
- Barnard GP, without modification.
- Barnard P-Chey
- BAT Machine EX, L & EXS, with the addition of a few tapped holes.
- JJRock JJR50 also requires tapped holes be added.
- Pierce 10x
